Hooray for Paint!
I am about to write a blog post about my desk painting adventures over the weekend, but I realised in order to do so, I have to tell another short story.

Sometime over the new year, I compiled my 30 before 30 list, on my iPhone on a tram! I've seen these done on quite a few of my favourite blogs, and since my 30th birthday is coming up next year, I thought this would be the perfect motivator to get some of those "I wish I could..." or "One day I want to..." thoughts crossed off with the excuse that they'd need to be done before my birthday.
So far it's working a treat. Number 11, "Dye my hair blonde" is in progress (after three hours at the hairdressers already: it takes a while to get nine or so years of black hair dye out! My hair is now a brown-red colour which I am not a fan of to be honest, but I have my eye on the prize, even if I take one look at myself as a blonde and reach for the hair dye again!). I had my first sewing lesson two weeks ago, which is part of Number 2's task - "Learn to sew" - thanks Mum! Technically I crossed off Number 24 in February, when we hosted a family dinner for James' birthday, although I may have another go at this one before June next year. Number 19 is "Decorate our studio and make it a lovely place to go to work", and this is where the painting adventures come into play.
I have worked at the same desk since I was in primary school, a very solid pine desk with four drawers either side. It's moved with me twice and I can't imagine working anywhere else. I decided to paint it MONTHS ago, but couldn't commit to a colour, until I spotted these pictures below and decided they would be the colours for our studio (with some glossy black thrown in, you know I can't go without black).

My desk is now a dreamy greeny-blue which I adore. I plan to take a photo of the finished result when the result is, err, finished: I still need to source some drawer pulls as the old ones have puppy chew marks all over them, thanks Oscar! The next step is painting our second desk, buying some new legs for it and generally sprucing it up a bit. I also have plans for making a HUGE inspiration pinboard for one of the walls out of a natural coloured linen. We lease the room, so I can't paint the walls unfortunately, but we're lucky in that they are a very neutral colour that won't conflict with whatever craziness I inject into the space.
It feels great to have taken one step forward on this project!
In other news, which is semi-related, whilst the paint was drying I started a massive purge of stuff in the studio, and I'm selling my little prop box! It contains a whole heap of stuff I've used as props for photos, expos and displays, and a few little trinkets that would no doubt come in useful if you do a bit of shooting of your own goods! Please email me if you are interested in making these goodies your own, would love to see them heading to a good home!

Have a great week!
