In The Jungle
My husband, brother-in-law and I took a spontaneous detour to Melbourne's GPO building in Bourke Street mall yesterday to check out an installation I had seen on The Design Files. Entitled "Spring Orchard", this amazing work is by Amanda Henderson of Gloss Creative - Amanda is an extremely talented visual merchandiser and event stylist/artist, and I am a huge fan of her work, which usually includes many different mediums, en masse and large scale, and a whole lot of colour.
Close up, this piece is made of what I assume to be a vellum and/or card stock and twine, in layers upon layers; I braved my vertigo to get a few iPhone snaps to take home and look at further. I was really impressed by the embossing of the folds of the leaves to add even more dimension to the piece, and the trailing vines of intricately cut leaves that hung from the base of the arrangement.

There is also some far more professional shots of the installation up on The Design Files. I recommend, if you are in Melbourne, checking it out whilst you can.
Update: Gloss Creative have just written a blog entry with behind the scenes shots of the making of this installation here.
